Day 65

Following the morning sun, we took the Bow Trail Parkway up to Lake Louise. Searching for wildlife proved fruitless but the views of Castle Mountain and Johnson Canyon more than compensated.

We visited the Interpretive center where the had lots of information about how the Canadian Rocky Mountains were formed. They had a bunch of Video Kiosks where a crazy scientist taught kids about the geology and the different lakes and rivers in the area.

After the center, we headed up to the Lake Louise Ski resort to ride another Gondola to get a birds-eye view of the glacial lakes.

After a brief thundershower we drove to the lake itself and rented a canoe for a quick paddle to the base of the glacier (even quicker when Sarah decided she was afraid), both kids liked having a turn to paddle though.

After Louise, we headed over to Lake Moraine, followed by a drive along the 3 Vermillion Lakes, where Sam worked on his sighting skills with his binoculars and moose-call. The thunderstorms returned to follow us back to Canmore so we opted for an early evening before our big driving day tomorrow.
