Day 62

Following a tip from some Voyageurs at Fort William, we skirted east and north of Calgary from Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump towards the Drumheller Valley. We were surprised when the rolling prairies dropped off into surreal canyon formations at Horseshoe Canyon, then we descended into the Badlands to visit the Royal Tyrell Museum of Paleontology.

From following Buffalo to tracking Dinosaurs, Sam and Sarah once again used their sharp eyes to follow the route of the Albertosaurus through the science discovery areas, the working research labs, and up to the great hall, full of life-sized replicas and actual skeletons.

Sam was impressed with the early ocean exhibit, where we walked over a glass floor of protozoa, and with the Tyrannasaurus Rex because he eats meat to which Sarah pointed out that T-Rex could eat Dad, because "He's a tasty Guy !!" After Sam found this skeleton puzzle, we couldn't get him away from it.

Leaving the air-conditioned museum behind, we took refuge from the heat in the cool but crowded pool at our campground. The kids made friends with our neighbors, who taught them how to play Yatzee, and we spent some time feeding some of the hundreds of bunny rabbits that roamed the campground before turning in.
