Day 17-

After dropping the kids and I off at the Zoo, Dan headed out to get the RV fixed and do some shopping. The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha was huge. Enough for a 2 day visit. Deciding that we had to choose our site carefully, Sam and I studied the map. We first visited the Lied Jungle, an indoor rainforest. The kids enjoyed walking through waterfalls and spotting bats in the caves.

Next it was off to the Scott Aquarium. We were greeted outside by penguins, with more swimming penguins inside but the hilight was walking through a glass tunnel in the warm water reef tank to have sharks and rays swimming over our heads. With time for one more stop, we headed to the cat complex with many varieties of tigers they were breeding.

Dan picked us up and we headed into Iowa. Reaching DesMoines, we visited the Living History Farms, an 1875 pioneer village. The kids were captivated by helping out the banker, printer, blacksmith, and broommaker. They got to bring home a card they printed and a chain link that the blacksmith made. We also met the pharmacist and shopkeeper.

At our campsite, we had a family game of mini-golf with Dan scoring 3 holes-in-one.
