Day 5 -

After another stint on the playground, we once again headed north and after rejoining our friend, the Snake River, we ventured into the Grand Tetons and Jackson WY.

Jackson Hole found us provisioning for our stay in Yellowstone (thank goodness for Albertson's). Then we were back on the road past the elk refuge.

Cruising through the majestic Tetons, we stopped at Colter Bay to take in the view of Jackson Lake and let the kids play in the snow (and throw rocks in the bay!!!)

Our first buffalo sighting!! On a brief stop to observe the glacier-carved peaks of the Tetons, we were surprised to see a buffalo saunter across the road just in front of the RV.

Arriving at Yellowstone, Sam's main concern was if there would be snow in our campground. He was distracted briefly by the geysers and springs at West Thumb but was most gratified to find 3 to 4 foot drifts surrounding our site.

The rest of the day flew by in a whirl of snowballs and snowmen, but as we lay down our tired heads, the wilderness songs of all our previous nights paled as the cries of the Yellowstone wolves curled around us and drifted off into the night.
